Version 2.1

Overview Four Corner Checkers is a game based on the game Chinese Checkers. The board layout is somewhat different, but the play is the same.
Non-Registered
 Restrictions
- Hall of Fame Bulletins NOT created
- Max games a caller can play in is ONE(1)
- Player is deleted if they do not play in 2 days
Installation (1) Create a directory to hold all files
(2) Unzip the archive into the above directory
(3) Edit the SAMPLE.CFG file. A description of each line is included in that file. You will need to create a separate configuration file
for each node you operate, including local. Be sure to name each file differently. i.e. 4CORN1.CFG, 4CORN2.CFG or whatever.

4) The command line for calling the game is:

4CORN.EXE <name of the config file for this node>

    example: 4CORN 4CORN2.CFG

Maintenance To have the game skip a players turn if he/she does not play within the number of days set in your configuration file, you must run the program 4CORNMNT.EXE every night as an event. This will go through the data file and search for players who have not played in time and pass the turn onto the next player. It will also kill a game if a player forfeits his/her turn too many times. This should
prevent players being locked into unplayable games.

To run, pass the number of inactive days and max number of forfeits as a parameter. FOR EXAMPLE:

To have 4CORNMNT.EXE search the data file for players who have not played their turn for four days, and kill any games where a player has forfeited more than 5 times run:

4CORNMNT.EXE 4 5

Please note that the parameter passed to 4CORNMNT.EXE should be the same as set in your configuration file. If not, it won't hurt anything, but your players may be quite unhappy. :)

If you do not wish to limit the number of days before taking turns, then you do not need to run this utility, although it is recommended that it be run nightly.
Non-Standard COM
Support
To tell 4 CORNERS CHECKER that you are using a Non-Standard IRQ setting, add /(x) to you command line, where x is the IRQ used.

example: CHREACT c:\bbs\node1\door.sys/5

This will tell the game to use IRQ 5. NOTE!!! No space is added between the dropfile path and the IRQ switch...

Fossil Driver Support This Door supports the use of Fossil drivers. The game should detect most standard Fossil drivers if installed.

Distribution You may make this file available for downloading from your BBS or you may upload it to any BBS or WEB site of your choice, provided that you do not make any changes to the contents of the archive (ZIP/EXE file). The archive and its individual contents may not be used by any service that charges any money whatsoever, without the written permission of the author.
Registration Registration and the subsequent insertion of the registration number into your configuration file, allows for the display of your BBS name on the opening and closing screen as well as the reduction of a delay built into the opening screen display along with the ability to change certain values in the configuration file.

Once a door is registered, any changes to registration information (Sysop name or BBS Name) will require the doors to be re-registered at the registration fee in effect at that time.

Be sure to use the proper upper/lower case when filling in your name and BBS name, as they MUST match the way you entered them in the configuration file.
Misc. The latest version this product, along with and other fine DOOR and HOME EDITION products are always available for download from this web site.
