CHAIN REACTION 16-Bit Documentation

Version 3.1
Author/Contact Al Lawrence/Sunrise Door Software
Overview Chain Reaction is based on the popular television game show of the same name. Players must try to guess words based on their relationship with the previous or following word. Players may request to be given letters of the words to help them solve the word. Each letter given by the computer, and each wrong guess reduces the players score. Therefore, the object is to guess all the words in the chain with as little help as possible, and with as few incorrect guesses as possible. The number of games per day is set by the system operator. Callers have the option to make up missed turns from previous days. The game is reset each month automatically. No need to run any maintenance routines.

The players may submit their own chains to the game. This helps to build an increasing database of words. All chains submitted must be approved by the system operator. When the system operator logs out of the game, he/she will be notified if there are any new submissions. So, even if you don't play the game, it is a good idea to log into the game periodically to update the game database. WARNING!! Do not attempt to manually add words to the data file using an editor. You risk making the data file unreadable. A database editor ( CHEDIT.EXE ) is included to delete or edit chains from the database. Run this from the games main directory to edit or delete chains.

This game is InterBBS capable. Please read CHREIBBS.DOC for details.

CHREACT.EXE <path and filename of your bbs drop file>

To tell 4 CORNERS CHECKER that you are using a Non-Standard IRQ setting, add /(x) to you command line, where x is the IRQ used.

example: CHREACT c:\bbs\node1\door.sys/5

This will tell the game to use IRQ 5. NOTE!!! No space is added between the dropfile path and the IRQ switch...

Once a door is registered, any changes to registration information (Sysop name or BBS Name) will require the doors to be re-registered at the registration fee in effect at that time.

Be sure to use the proper upper/lower case when filling in your name and BBS name, as they MUST match the way you entered them in the configuration file.
